Tra Que Vegetable Village, nestled just a stone’s throw away from the renowned Hoi An Old Town, boasts a reputation for its exceptional herbs and vegetables. Despite its proximity to the ocean, the area’s sandy soil and local freshwater source contribute to its distinctive flavor profile. This proximity to the bustling tourist destination of Hoi An also provides opportunities for residents to engage in traditional farming techniques, such as gardening and cooking, alongside their more conventional agricultural pursuits.

As part of her daily routine, Xuan welcomes a group of neurodivergent students to her farm for cooking activities. Recognizing the unique needs of the group, Xuan approaches the day’s activities with a fresh perspective. Starting with an engaging Q&A session to involve the students in gardening activities, she maintains their excitement with interactive games before transitioning to indoor cooking.

During the first meal, however, Xuan and the group coordinators notice some students displaying nervous postures. Sensing their discomfort, Xuan takes immediate action, serving the meal at the table to provide a moment of relaxation. Some students take a walk in the vegetation garden for fresh air, allowing Xuan time to reflect on her facilitation approach.

The remainder of the cooking session proceeds smoothly, with delicious food, a comfortable pace, and a restored sense of peace for both Xuan and the students. Witnessing the students enjoy the meals and learn a new Vietnamese dish is rewarding, but the true value lies in the emotional transformation facilitated by timely communication and continuous attention.

Throughout the program, the local guide, teachers, and coordinators remain attentive, seizing learning opportunities and addressing any challenges that arise. Attention to detail is paramount in educational tours, ensuring safety and enriching experiences for all participants. By conducting the service from the heart, the goal is to provide a comfortable space for students during their foreign trip, nurturing their connection with the country and fostering a new perspective on travel.
