A whole new world of adventure and disparate culture is awaited ahead for young explorers from Connecticut – US to study and experience!

As educators, we understand the importance of providing our students with holistic learning experiences that go beyond the confines of the classroom. School trips offer a unique opportunity for students to expand their horizons, gain cultural awareness, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. These experiences not only enhance their education but also contribute to their personal growth and development.

Indochina, encompassing the captivating countries of Vietnam and Cambodia, offers a rich tapestry of history, culture, and natural beauty, making it an ideal educational destination for school trips. We carefully curated the trip to provide a comprehensive educational experience while also allowing students to interact with locals, learn about their customs and traditions, and even participate in traditional activities such as cooking classes and traditional dance performances. This firsthand experience allowed them to develop a deep appreciation for the rich cultural heritage of Indochina.

As we start the journey to discover Vietnam from North to South. From exploring the bustling streets of 1000 years city of literature of Hanoi to sailing through the majestic Ha Long Bay, the students were in awe of numerous historical sites and landmarks that are of great significance in the region. They can see with their own eyes, the remnant of the Vietnam War compare to what their loved ones have shared the story with them

“My Grand Father used to be a B-52 pilot during the Vietnam War, I never had a chance to meet him and have never really put effort into knowing him because he was long gone before I was born, but seeing and hearing these stories about the wreckage of a B52 bomber, really put me under some mixed feeling right now. Make me want to learn more about my grandfather’s life…” – Sadie, a student sharing her thoughts at the B52 sites in Hanoi

After that, we stopped and changed to a slow breeze pace, visiting the Hoi An Old Town and fostering personal growth, as students developed important life skills – making their own meals – understanding the hard work of agriculture, nurturing their empathy and appreciation for food and cuisine within the process from farm to table.

“Thank you all for everything you did for us and our students. You truly left a mark on them that they will forever remember. We couldn’t have asked for better people to accompany us on this trip.” – Amanda, teacher.

The trip incorporated interdisciplinary learning, allowing students to connect various subjects such as history, geography, and cultural studies. By providing real-world examples and experiences through the marvel at the Cu Chi Tunnels in Vietnam, and learning about the Vietnam War at the War Remnants Museum in Ho Chi Minh City, we hope that the student’s understanding of these subjects and deepened their knowledge and we so glad when we hear they sharing their perspective.

“I knew that my grandfather was responsible for dropping Agent Orange throughout the forest of Vietnam, which is the main reason for his hemiplegia. But I can never imagine it could be this devastating, those pictures in there [referring to the Agents Orange Room] is beyond cruelty” – Will, a student sharing his thoughts at the War Remnants Museum

Planning and organizing an educational school trip requires careful consideration and attention to detail, which is why we think that 1 day away from the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh and join the peaceful scenery of the Mekong Delta, where they are allowed to relax while immersing themselves into the harsh and deprivation of the island’s local life.

We finished the trip with three days in Cambodia, ending the tour with the 8th Wonder of the World, Angkor War – “City of Temples” is the best way to boost all the experiences to the spiritual energy level. With Cambodia sharing the land with Vietnam for the last 1,000 years, students can make the historical link between both nations when studying the background of the Khmer people.
